On April 11th 2026, Rademakers Gallery will open a new exhibition — The Garden Remembers — a group show inspired by nature in its blooming, vibrant, and ever-changing form. 

The new exhibition invites visitors into a world shaped by growth, color, and organic transformation. Guided by themes of blossoming landscapes, lush greens, and the quiet poetry of the natural world, The Garden Remembers explores how artists interpret the rhythms and vitality of nature. Rather than depicting nature directly, the works evoke its presence — its energy, softness, and constant renewal.

Featuring creations by Kim Simonsson, Kiki van Eijk, Poppykalas, Stefan Gross, Hilde Trip, Simone Post, Alfhild Sarah Külper, Frits Achten, Beppe Kessler and Sofie Aaldering, the exhibition brings together diverse artistic voices connected by a shared sensitivity to natural forms and sensations. Their approaches range from playful to contemplative, weaving a collective portrait of nature as both theme and inspiration.

The Garden Remembers invites viewers to step into a space where art feels alive — blooming, unfolding, and quietly transforming, just like nature itself.

The exhibition is open until June 27th 2026.

A nine meter long, hanging garden inspired by the flower garden of Henri Matisse for SMK - The national Gallery of Denmark.

The installation was created for the exhibition ‘Matisse: The Red Studio’ in collaboration with MomA in New York. .

Poppykalas is one of many partners who are expanding and challenging the idea of the traditional gift shop. In addition to a forest of giant Poppykalas Organza Poppies, several products from the Poppykalas collection will be available in the store.

About Poppykalas

Thilde Maria Haukohl Kristensen, also known as Poppykalas, is a visual artist, floral designer and author. She is internationally recognized for her paintings, original floral designs, installations, editorials for Vogue and more. In Denmark, she has exhibited at SMK, Glyptoteket, Thorvaldsens, Arden Asbæk Gallery, Galerie Wolfsen and others. She has written the book Poppykalas and the Magic Flowers, which is a personal and sensuous story about finding peace and beauty in nature, in the changing seasons and in the language of flowers.

A part of PLATFORM Arden Asbæk Gallery is excited to present its fourth exhibition under the title PLATFORM.

This time focusing on both craftsmanship and tactility, the exhibition U CAN’T TOUCH THIS presents the works of three emerging artists: Signe Emdal, Aya Simone and Thilde Maria Kristensen.

Each representing a different sense of tactility. From the glossy to the fluffy, from the watery to the rich, these four artists work within vastly different media; epoxy, textile, ceramics and painting. But what they have in common is just how hard they make keeping your hands to yourself.

Thilde Maria Kristensen is a visual artist and a floral designer working under the pseudonym Poppykalas.

Her oil paintings are soft and smooth enough to eat. Both the technique and motive is inspired by her grandmother, and while floral paintings were traditionally seen as a ‘woman’s work’ (and therefore less important), these pieces invite you to enter a world, where femininity, sensitivity and softness is pronounced with pride.

The Magical Flowers
Solo Exhibition in Tivoli by Poppykalas

August 31st – September 15th, 2024

As part of Tivoli’s Garden and Flower Festival, Thilde was invited to create a solo exhibition in the Rotunda.

In a sensorial and magical universe, you can experience oil paintings by Thilde Maria Haukohl Kristensen (also known as Poppykalas), inspired by Tivoli’s floral world. Dreamlike, large-scale, and vibrant textile flowers invite you to reconnect with a childlike sense of wonder.

The Magical Flowers is the red thread throughout the exhibition, where flowers unfold across a variety of materials and forms — from their visual presence to their scent and even their sound.

The exhibition is created in collaboration with @tivolicph @galeriewolfsen and @marie_louise_sandberg_collabs

Exhibition at Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen with floral installation and oil painting.

The oil painting by Thilde, the founder of Poppykalas, was projected outside on the building and insiden by Mads Vegas.

The exhibition took place during the Autumn Holiday and at At ‘Kulturnatten’, where PhilipISchneider performed Soil-Water-Sun in the floral installation with a choir of eight women.

First Solo exhibition ‘Dagenes Skum’ at Galerie Wolfsen in Aalborg, Denmark 04. - 25. November 2023.

Josephine Philip and Hannah Schneider have come together as the performance duo Philip | Schneider to create seductive spatial compositions that engage the body, ears, and mind.

During CHART 2019 is their performance Soil – Water – Sun, a new choral composition comprised of eight female voices and a growth laboratory developed by Poppykalas, a Copenhagen-based design studio.

The result is a sensuous, immersive installation that examines our implicit relationship with, or the lack of thereof, the cycle of nature, cultivating a space for contemplation and reflection.

Inspired by the untamed sea of Denmark's West Coast, where she grew up, Thilde created The Sea Table, thereby combining her two favourite natural elements: flowers and water.

Channeling their calming energies, the table catches the light and creates organic water-like shadows, and brings forth a new perspective on our natural world.

The organically shaped tabletop resembles a piece of cracked ice. The firm polished epoxy cubic base creates a contrast between the solid form and hand-picked flowers like oceanic moss, helichrysum, amaranthus and roses.

Window and interior decoration for Magasin in Copenhagen made with giant textile flowers.

The Save My Sister photo exhibition aims not only to increase awareness of violence against women, but also, importantly, to empower survivors of domestic abuse to create new narratives for themselves.

The campaign features portraits of both survivors and activist-allies in stunning floral surroundings—the idea being that the moment a survivor tells their story, they plant the seeds for a new life.

The project is a collaboration between floral design studio Poppykalas, photographer Sarah Buthmann, and women’s rights organization Danner. The show will tour Denmark all summer 2021 and is accompanied by talks and events in each city.

A sensuous exhibition, that invites you to enter a new, soft world.

Take someone you love in your hand and step into a slow world and forget everything about the coronavirus for a while.

Flower artist Poppykalas invites you to a hyper-sensory exhibition that reminds us of what makes life worth living, even when it feels like it have stopped.

“Inspired by Georges Bataille's call: "Be an ocean!" we use the Coronas eradication of everything we know and take for granted as a starting point for creating a new and soft world. Here a pronounced sensitivity reigns, and we place emphasis on community rather than prejudice,” - says Thilde Maria Haukohl Kristensen, the founder and creative director of Poppykalas.

The exhibition Blomsterøjne took place at Hanstholm Lighthouse in Thy close by the wild North Sea and the moonlike moor. Thilde origins from Thy.

‘Poppykalas and the magical flowers’ is a deeply personal story about releasing your inner child and finding peace in the flowers that have always been here.

Thilde Maria Kristensen's work is a visual and hyper-sensory story about being a human in close connection with nature. Throughout a year and changing seasons, we follow Thilde's experiments, from wild wildflowers and small potpourri to sumptuous floral compositions and scents.

She shares her experiences of expressing herself through the language of flowers and finding pauses, meaning and beauty in nature.

The book is a beautiful coffee table book with book design by L.A. Graphic Design and photos by Sarah Buthmann.

The book is out April 27 2023 at the danish publishing house Gyldendal.

Flora in situ is a collaborative exhibition between photographer and Rosalina Serup and Poppykalas.

It consists of eight photographs of flowers. Flowers are used to express feelings between sender and recipient, and can therefore be thought of as performative.

Flora in situ plays with the symbolic flowers in contrasting contexts, whereby new meanings might emerge.

Flora in situ is thus an attempt to let novel meanings arise between the symbolic flowers and the viewers.

Art Nouveau – La Belle Époque – is characterized by an intense aspiration to beauty. A desire to create artistic design based on magnificent craftsmanship while being very much inspired by the shapes of nature and wildlife. This is where Georg Jensen found his inspiration and where he felt at home.

April 19, 2019 marks the 115th anniversary of the company Georg Jensen, and to pay tribute to their founding father’s love for nature, the Tureen 270 was the obvious choice. The Tureen 270 is an elegant one-of-a-kind piece, which showcases the incredible level of creativity, heritage and artisanship that has infused the house of Georg Jensen since its foundation in 1904.

The floral top of the lid is the most demanding element of the tureen. Each element is handmade and recreated from archive sketches and photos. It has been an incredibly demanding job for the most skilled silversmiths at Georg Jensen. Besides these decorative details the generous size and the voluminous curves made the Tureen a very complex object to handle and create

Winner of Elle Decoration Design Award Sweden in the category Interior Accessory of The Year with the motivation: "Coluorful happiness from the floral world and a spot-on instinct for trends make these rugs the most wanted interior item of the year."

The Secret Garden Collection is a collaboration between Layered and renowned Danish Floral Design Studio Poppykalas. For this exclusive capsule collection, Poppykalas explored the theme of a flourishing garden and translated it into an abstract floral composition. 

The two limited edition rugs are made from a mixture of recycled wool and Tencel, which lends texture and a sheen finish to the design. Tencel is a high-quality version of viscose, and just like the wool used, it is environmentally friendly and very hard-wearing. The rugs are handwoven, which makes every one of them unique. It may also result in small variations in size and colour.

The flowers, colors, textures, and sensuousness of a garden have a calming, relaxing and recharging effect on the human body. The overall inspiration for The Secret Garden Collection is the prodigious garden, and all the benefits it has on the body and mind. Inspired by the traditional way of creating a garden design with abstract - often round and oval forms, Poppykalas has created the unique designs of the collection.

The Flower Field rug is inspired by an atmospheric, wild rose garden with colors of pink, lilac and yellow. The Secret Garden rug has taken its inspiration from a mysterious hidden place, with a small, rippling stream and tons of wild flowers.

The wallpaper collection conveys an universal languages in a new interesting format that sets a mood and or a feeling. Poppykalas’s new interpretation of the "grandmother wallpaper" invites a convincing and eclectic staging of the home. 

The result is a beautiful example of magic that can occur when two different professionals collaborate.

With great inspiration from the 18th century French Madame de Pompadour, her intellectuality and lavish lifestyle. "More is more". A francophile cornucopia of colors and flowers with a modern touch is common denominator for both wallpapers.

The flowers illustrated in patterns are photographed by Tigron & Floyd's design duo Hanna Richter and Eveline Johnsson. Subsequently, the patterns were created digitally in close collaboration with Poppykalas.

The Flower market Series is cultivating the mystique behind the Flower market in the middle of the night, when the light of day slowly approaches. It depicts the travel of the flowers - from the raw carriage to the plastic wrapped car ride in water buckles as an attempt to extent their precious and fragile lifes, before they are being delivered to weddings, funerals, birthdays and lovers.
